How long have you been in business?
34 years
What is your primary product or service?
at your home pet sitting (your plants also)
How did you first become interested in your line of business? (if owner) - What is your background? (If owner or store manager)
Owner and wife own this business and started it 34 years ago... it was a new service and we were the first pet sitting service in San Antonio. It is my wife's business (Dana Florence) and I am a retired veterinarian with many pets of our own and that lead to our interest.
How do you differentiate yourself from other businesses in your category and area?
The fact that we have been doing this for such a long time (first pet sitter in San Antonio means we have been doing it the longest time and are the most experienced), it is done under veterinarian supervision ( but we are not the pet owner's veteriarian) and we have never had a complaint during our 34 years (check us out with the BBB or Angie's List). To our surprise, almost all of our customers have asked us to keep a key so if they have to leave town in a hurry, all they do is just call us. Over the years we have appeared in newspaper and TV articles (that were not advertisements).
How many locations do you have and do you have plans to expand?
Only one location and customers have never come to us as we go to them and care for pets and/or plants/ and/or get their mail and Fed-Ex (off the steps)at their home while they are gone. We don't plant to expand.
Provide detailed directions to your location
Unlike most businesses, customers don't come to our location, they just call us and we go to them.
What type of payments do you accept?
Every customer gives us a check. Never had anyone ask us if we accept credit cards so we funtion with credit cards.
Which areas do you service?
North central San Antonio up to the Bulverde area. We don't go below loop 410 North.
Who owns your company or runs daily operations?
Two people.... Monty and Dana Florence
What are your hours of operation?
No set hours. Telephone for our business is in our home and can answer it anytime... after midnight people can leave a message on it so we can return their calls. Hours that customers want service is usually 8Am-10AM and 3PM-6PM. We don't do service mid-day.
What is the best compliment anyone can give you?
I feel so at ease when I leave my pets and my home in your care when I am out of town. (we hear it alot)
What is your favorite quote or Bible verse?
It's more than a pet, is a member of our family.
