Interview Q&A
How long have you been in business?
I've been playing the acoustic guitar for 28 years, studied and taught the holistic singing workshops "The Singing Body" (previously known as CrystalVoice) for 20 years. As far as professional, full-on musical pursuits, about 15 years.
What is your primary product or service?
My primary products & services are as a performing songwriter and guitarist, playing solo, duo or trio shows in listening rooms, smoke-free clubs, house concerts and for corporate events. I really enjoy the opportunity to teach a workshop, play a listening room show, and a church gig on Sunday, and make a full weekend of my travels! You can read about the workshop at sharonbousquet.com. My products are my independently produced CDs, 5 in all, the last two of which were recorded in Texas.
How did you first become interested in your line of business? (if owner) - What is your background? (If owner or store manager)
I come from a musical family; they inspired me to follow the call. I can't really imagine doing something outside of the arts.... check out the lyrics to my song, "Myself for a Living" for the full scoop. You can listen on MySpace.
How do you differentiate yourself from other businesses in your category and area?
My work - guitar playing, writing, singing, and the people I surround myself with onstage and in the studio - continue to improve and expand. In Texas, there is so much talent and so much music... being authentic to your "voice", being a good writer, and continuing to grow and learn, keep the music fresh and worth another listen.
How many locations do you have and do you have plans to expand?
I play in the Midwest, Texas, California, and intend to return to Europe every other year. I am now based in the Midwest, but continue to tour in Texas regularly. My CDs are available online in a variety of places, including my website sharonbousquet.com, with MP3 downloads able to be purchased for a song, at myspace.com/sharonbousquet.
